Palms in Oman

This is a shot from the Shell gas station in the Sultanate of Oman, ( I like writing that it sounds more exotic than just Oman) I'm assuming the palms were planted and are most likely irrigated as is most of the vegetation is this area.

  1. the vast majority of Date Palms are planted as ‘suckers’ from an adult tree; you probably will never see a ‘seed’ grown Date Palm.
Date palms are usually irrigated – the Omanis have a saying ‘ a date needs its head in hell and feet in heaven’ referring to the sizzling summer temperatures needed for good dates and enormous quantity of water needed for irrigation.
